guns, drugs and money

Hezbollah has developed a new source of funding to compensate for Iran’s dwindling financial support.

They are in partnership with a Mexican drug cartel, trafficking cocaine and money laundering.  Making use of the estimated 200,000 Syrian and Lebanese living in the area, they are able to conduct their activities in the forests of Chiapas in northern Mexico.  There, they are protected from authorities by the local drug cartel.

miss syria

At last some good news for Syria.

Miss Syria Nadine Fahad was named Miss Arab World 2012, at a beauty pageant held in Egypt recently.

“…The contest sought to highlight the “ideal Arab girl” that best represents her country based on traditional Arab values of modesty and culture,” according to http://www.missarabworld.org, the website of the event…”

This entrant was unplaced in the pageant:

shortage of flower pickers

Israel’s Flower Growers Association is lamenting the shortage of overseas workers for them to exploit in their businesses.

They claim that 30 million flowers that should have been shipped to Europe for Christmas were left unpicked.

Here is an idea…

How about sacrificing a small portion of their outrageous profits to pay employees a decent wage – and the Government can replace 20,000 foreign workers with unemployed Israelis?

shocking promises

The Chairman of the Israel Electric Company ( IEC ), Yiftah Ron-Tal, has stuck his neck out and made some daring promises.

Considering his employees are amongst the most protected, powerful and overpaid in all the country – you can expect that he will not be able to deliver on his promises.

Despite sitting on massive property assets the bloated and hopelessly mismanaged, the monopoly electricity provider has warned of more price increases in 2013 – following extravagant rises in 2012 – and yet still dives deeper into debt every year.

He is promising to layoff 2,000 permanent workers ( from a total workforce of about 12,500 ).

He is also promising to eliminate the employee benefit of receiving free electricity.

Here are my predictions on his 2 promises:

Not 2,000, but a maximum of 500 workers will be laid off.  But they will immediately be given contract work – at a greater expense to the Company ( and therefore, the consumer ).

The free electricity benefit will not be eliminated.  If it is “eliminated”, it will be replaced by employee salary increases – at a greater expense to the Company ( and therefore, the consumer ).

jesus was a palestinian

Some amusing perspectives on Jesus from Palestinian leaders, reported by IMRA and PMW:

PMW Bulletin

The Palestinian “holy Trinity”: Jesus, Arafat and Abbas

PA leader Rajoub: “The greatest Palestinian in history since Jesus is Yasser Arafat.”

The Palestinian leadership’s falsification of history by presenting Jesus as an ancient Palestinian increased in regularity as Christmas approached this year. In the last month alone, the PA media has transmitted six additional PA misrepresentations of Jesus as a Palestinian, including:
The Governor of Ramallah: “We all have the right to be proud that Jesus is a Palestinian”

PA historian: “In the final analysis, Jesus is a Palestinian”

The PA Mufti: “Jesus is a Palestinian par excellence”

Palestinian Media Watch reported that the PA Mufti used the same expression already three years ago.
In addition, there is an attempt to connect Jesus to the Palestinian leaders themselves. Senior PA leader Jibril Rajoub said: “The greatest Palestinian in history since Jesus is Yasser Arafat,” and an editorial in the PA official daily referred to Arafat, Jesus and Abbas as the Palestinian “holy
Trinity”: “Jesus is a Palestinian; the self-sacrificing Yasser Arafat is a Palestinian; Mahmoud Abbas, the messenger of peace on earth, is a Palestinian. How great is this nation of the holy Trinity!”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 30, 2012]

PMW has documented the ongoing PA historical revision, which falsely connects the current Palestinian-Arab population to a fabricated ancient Palestinian-Arab nation. Although there is no record of any Palestinian-Arab history and no people ever identified as being part of a Palestinian-Arab nation until very recently, the PA claims they are an ancient Palestinian people in an attempt to compete with Israel’s well-documented Jewish history in the land.

While Christian tradition and the historical writings of the period portray Jesus as a Jew living in the land of Judea/Israel, the PA consistently tells its people that they are the ones connected to Jesus. This is not only a distortion of Jesus’ personal history as reported in Christian writings, it
is also an anachronism. The Romans changed the name of Judea/Israel to “Palestine” in order to punish the Jewish nation after its unsuccessful rebellion a full 136 years after the birth of Jesus.

The following are recent examples of the PA’s misrepresentation of Jesus as a Palestinian:
Fatah Central Committee member Jibril Rajoub:
“The greatest Palestinian in history since Jesus is Yasser Arafat.”
[PA TV (Fatah), Nov. 29, 2011]

Official PA daily op-ed:
“Jesus is a Palestinian; the self-sacrificing Yasser Arafat is a Palestinian; Mahmoud Abbas, the messenger of peace on earth, is a Palestinian. How great is this nation of the holy Trinity!”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 30, 2012]

Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories:
“The Palestinian nation is rooted in this land since the Canaanites and the Jebusites. The Arab presence – Christian and Islamic – on this land is uninterrupted. Jesus is a Palestinian par excellence.”
[PA TV (Fatah), Nov. 30, 2012]

Governor of the Ramallah district Leila Ghannam:
“The Palestinian pain is one and the joy is one. We all have the right to be proud that Jesus is a Palestinian and that Palestine is the birthplace of the religions…”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 24, 2012]

Palestinian historian Khalil Shoka:
“The Christian religion started here [Bethlehem]… The entire world is focused on this city because of its important historical and traditional role… because in the final analysis, Jesus is a Palestinian.”
[PA TV (Fatah), Dec. 16, 2012]

Official PA daily op-ed:
“We can be proud, oh son of Mary, that you are the first Palestinian who redeemed mankind…”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 25, 2012]

a pile of sand and rocks

The dirt continues to fly in the battle over Muslim’s third most holy site and Judaism’s holiest site.

For years the Waqf has accused Israel of digging beneath the Temple Mount and causing structural weaknesses, as well as many other false accusations of Israeli activity in and around the site.

It is actually the Waqf digging underneath the Temple Mount for years, with Israeli excavation works taking place nearby.

In September 2004 the Israeli High Court ruled that Israeli Antiquities Authority should be allowed to examine any earth removed for the site, to check for any artifacts.

It has been found that the this ruling has been routinely ignored – with tonnes of earth and stones being excavated from the site without advising the Authority.  The excavations have been dumped in various locations in the region.

stop the presses

It is hard to believe, but finally the Human Rights Watch group has issued a report against the Palestinians – saying that indiscriminate rocket fire from Gaza into civilian areas is a war crime.

The report on Operation Pillar of Defense, in November 2012, comes out against the deliberate targeting of civilians in Israel, and also for firing rockets from densely populated civilian areas in Gaza.

No urgent UN Security Council session has been called the discuss the report…

The UN Security Council and the Arab League has also been very quiet after 2 reports out of Syria in recent days.

The Syrian Air Force used fighter jets to bomb a bread line in the rebel-held town of Halfaya.

Rebel fighters have accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons in attack on Homs.

An online search for “human rights violations” gives interesting results.
