how to win a war

An American hedge fund is attempting to defeat Argentina without firing a single bullet, one tall-ship at a time.

Elliot Capital Management bought Argentinian government bonds and since they defaulted the hedge fund has been trying to collect.  The Argentinian navy ship docked in Ghana and they are trying to repo the ship.

selective blockade and self defence

The Turkish Government feels that it has the right to protect its citizens from external threats.  So they fire missiles back into Syria after some cross-border incidents.  And now Turkish fighter jets forced a Syrian airline to land in Turkey, because it was suspected of carrying weapons from Russia to Syria.  So Turkey is imposing a blockade – on Syria.

Yet the same Turkish Government does not allow Israel that same right – to protect its citizens from a far more direct and actual danger.

Terrorists in Gaza continue a daily barrage of missiles into Israel and another ship is making its way to Gaza to break the blockade.

The true sentiments of the Free Gaza leaders is now well-known to all – yet Turkey continues to vilify Israel at every opportunity, even as the attacks continue.

trust your local rabbi

This is a story that is hard to believe – a Rabbi in Israel has been arrested for stealing the Torah scrolls from his own congregation.

It sounds like Woody Allen stand-up comedy material from the 1970’s – it isn’t, it is Israel in 2012.

we need more voices like this

At last one journalist, from Saudi Arabia, has been brave enough to stand up and confront the lie that Israel is the enemy of the Arab world and the cause of their domestic problems.

His article in the English-language Arab News is truly brave and revolutionary – and we can only hope that he is not punished for making his views public.

A few people recently have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for much less – Abdulateef al-Mulhim is a worthy candidate, it is not premature to say that.  His words are that important.

If some influential Arab leaders would endorse his views, it could bring peace to the region instantly.

Or am I just living in a fantasy?
