minister for intelligence – not

Israel’s ironically appointed Minister for Intelligence and Strategic Affairs has only been in the chair a short while and is already showing an alarming lack of intelligence and strategic thought.

Maybe Yuval Steinitz is annoyed at being reshuffled downward from Treasurer to his new ministry, so he is seeking revenge.

Straight after Israel has moved to improve ties with Turkey, Steinitz insults them by publicly rejecting them as a potential mediator in peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

Why does he feel the need to make these announcements publicly?  If that is the Israeli Government’s view, they can choose not to involve the Turkish Government quietly.  It must be a good idea to at least try any available option to make peace.
